SHRUB ROSE

1215
Dr Eckener
Rugosa
1930

We are led to ask the question, "Bush, why dost bear a rose? If none must have it, Why dost expose it, yet claw those that crave?" (John Bunyan, c. 1684) ‘Dr. Eckener’ is loaded with prickles and would make an excellent subject for a barrier hedge. The strongly scented flowers are large, slightly cupped, and bloom in shades of copper and yellow which age to soft pink .
